Fun Things To Do in San Diego



This is the first year of the US Sand Sculpting Challenge and 3D Art Exposition in San Diego. Its going to be a blast!
  • Begins on Friday August 31 and ends on September 3, 2012 (Labor Day Weekend).
  • Will be located at B Street Cruise Ship Terminal Pier, in Downtown San Diego.
  • Over 300 tons of sand are being brought onto the pier for the competition.
  • Tickets are affordable for the whole family (Check here for ticket information).

Do you enjoy good music, food, and the sun? Then join us at the SoCal Music Festival on September 1, 2:00 in East Village.
  • There will be 4 stages set up with many bands playing ranging from Cold War Kids to Norin & Rad and Too $hort.
Take a look at the stars outside of  Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park on the first wednesday of every month. They set up giant telescopes to view the universe!

Interested in wildlife and nature? Than visit the Torrey Pines State Reserve. Its free to the public (small parking fee). There are activities for everyone.. visit the beach, take a hike or a bike ride!

Sand Castle Contest San Diego: Are You Up For The Sculpting Challenge?

Are you ready to witness the largest sand sculpting event in San Diego?
Come join us as we watch some of the best sand sculpting artists in the world compete for this first time event!

There will be many competitors in the upcoming sculpting challenge, but two competitors will be meeting again after competing against each other for years. This is a rivalry you don’t want to miss! 

California Sand Castle Competition Rivals Last year at the US Open Sandcastle Competition in Imperial Beach, CA I.B. Posse and Archisand took first and second place. Between both teams they have taken 9 out of 10 first place awards. Come watch as they compete again for the first place prize! This is the first year of the US Sand Sculpting Challenge and 3D Art Exposition in San Diego. Its going to be a blast! Its a perfect event for friends, family, and couples. Come and enjoy the weekend with us.

San Diego Sand Castle Competition 2012: A Must See Attraction in Southern CA

Looking for just the right fun thing to do in San Diego for Labor day weekend 2012?

If you have never seen a sand sculpture get ready to be amazed!

Join the San Diego community expected to come out to look at the incredible 3-dimensional works of art at this new 2012 San Diego sand castle competition!

These sculptures look like they belong in a museum! You can be a part of the San Diego sand castle competition by simply just showing up. Bring your family and friends and just enjoy a day at the beach complete with the entertainment of sand castle construction, musicians, singers, storytellers, pirates, magicians, kids activities and more!

The San Diego Sand Castle Contest Details

The US Sand Sculpture Challenge will have master artists from around the world create magnificent sand sculptures.

More than 300 tons of sand is being brought in to give the artists everything they need to build a stunning work of art.

Who are the competitors and what are the contests?
    • The main competition is between 10 professional world masters, who can build anything they want with the sand at hand.
    • There will also be a head-to-head battle between sand castle teams Archisand and I.B. Posse.
    • CA masters team competition (only California artists).
    • Student competitions that will focus on art and architecture.
      • The three levels consist of middle, high school, and college.
This year’s competition will blow you away don’t miss out on this once a year competition!
